This year our school celebrated 64th Independance day in our school in a greater manner. We had many visiters on that day. Professor.Ms. Sheena Subash , &President & their team from Lions Club Karaikal, Village Panchayath and many other personalities were there. Started with a prayer song. Followed by the Students March Past and flag hoisting. Mr. Samuel Thomas welcomed all the guest and the visitors of that day. We have a big croud of VIP"s and parents were there. Programme ended with sweets distribution & Cultural presentation by the students.

This Academic year school reopened on 15th June 2011 with 83 new admissions. Beginning of the year children went for Essay writting competetion organised by the ministry of power on Energy conservation. Our three boys stood outstanding. They received the merrit certificate and all the participant received certificates.
Also children appeared for Pradhamic Hindi examination organised by Hindi Prachar Sabha Chennai. Two girls and one boy stood outstanding they received first class on their performance.

Hope Foundation School celebrated the Annual day on 18th of March 2011. As usual this year too our school organised a commendabaleAnnual day celebrationwhich could inspire the community, children,parents and all the guest who participated. The chief guest for the programme were Dr. Rajamoorthy MBBS.DCH, Block Medical Officer and Prof. Mohan Kumaramangalam from Department of Social Science Kamarajar College of Education , Karaikal The programme started with a prayer.Our programme mananger Mrs. Lizzy Samuel welcommed the guests and all other community participants. Our school Head teacher Mrs. Anjammal Read the school annual report on different activities happend during 2010 and 2011. The chief guests were honored with shawls and flowers. There was also a power point presentationon on students achievement and activities they have performed during this year.The chief guest in his address he appreciated the task that hope foundation took since after tsunami in Nagapattinam District.Programme ends Prize distribution,cultural Presentation & National Anthems .

English Training Programme

We celebrated the teacher’s day on 5th of September. There was a food carnival organized by the teachers. Our teachers prepared the food and it was appreciated by the management and prizes were distributed to those who won at the carnival event. The day was extra special as all teachers made delicious food and it was enjoyed by all. The teachers’ day event was attended by all teachers; our correspondent, and other important personalities from Tharangambadi.

On Friday 22^nd October Hope Foundation Matriculation School held its first Science Festival and Exhibition. The day was an overwhelming success and will now be a yearly date in the school diary.

All children from 1^st Standard to 8^th Standard took part and parents were invited to the school to see the results of the children's hard work and efforts. The school invited special guests the principal and 2 science teachers from TELC School in Tharangambadi to judge the children’s work and the event was officially opened by the principal and David Guise a visitor to the school from Indiana in America.

The pupils were given the task of preparing a practical example of their learning and share their examples with the visitors. There were many outstanding models and examples for everyone to view and observe in action including a pumping heart and a number of working experiments.

The 6^th to 8^th Standard pupils prepared an excellent display of models highlighting the effects of global warming and climate change and offering solutions to the issues highlighted such as wind power and solar energy. The pupils displayed great confidence and skills in their ability to present their findings orally and their excellent presentation and communication skills were commented on very favorably by Mr Guise.

We have celebrated the 5th Annual day on 19th March in our School campus. The Chief Guest was R.D.O of Mayiladthurai, Revenue Inspector from Porayar, Panchayar President from Porayar, & Village panchayath Leaders, Parents Association Member Mr. Kaliaperumal, Ms. Esther- Professor from Denmark, Ms. Freda from Danish Fort were present. The celebration started with prayer song then our correspondent Mr. Samuel Thomas gave the welcome address. Shetland is most northerly part of Scotland, which is part of the United Kingdom. Even many people within the United Kingdom are not very sure where Shetland is! Most of Shetland is found north of the 60 degree North Line of Latitude. Shetland is made up of around 100 Islands. Fourteen of these islands have people living on them. The Capital of Shetland is the town of Lerwick. Our partner School is in Sand wick, which is about 15 miles from south of Lerwick in the south Main Land.

Farming & fishing is the main sources of income. Crofting are the word Shetlanders use instead of Farming. There are many crofts in Shetland today, which usually contain sheep & cows. Lamping time is a big time for crofters, because they need lot of lambs, so they always have sheep and some thing to eat.

Our partner school Sand wick Junior High school started in 1982. Since then we have achieved many award for being an Eco School and we were presented the Eco flag in June 2003.Attached some of the photograph for your reference, Our School. Children. Class room, Play Area, it is for children and also for the village. We play lot of sports competitions. The ideas of competitions are to keep people fit and have something’s to do at break times. We play Football, Hockey, Basket Ball, Dodge ball etc. Garden there we grow some of our own vegetables to eat at the lunch.

We Hope foundation school celebrated the Pongal festival,
Pongal is celebrated by the farmers after the harvest season, But the government of tamilnadu is announced this as a Regional festival, and it was a mandatory for the all the schools to celebrate with their wards . Hope foundation school celebrated this function in a grand manner, on 12 of January 2010. The program started with cooking the sweet pongal and distributing to the local village people and the students, this function was inaugurated by the Mr. Nevada Murugan, municipal chairman, Myladuthurai, Nagattinam. The fishermen panchyat and many well-known personalities were present in this function. After the special speech by the chief guest there were cultural competitions held. The first among the cultural program was the kadutharai cultural team introduced a folk dance in thappattam one of the ancient form of Tamil culture, the NGO, other school students from tharangambadi participated the competitions were classical dance, skits, songs, Mym and Bharathnattyam etc. . The Dance master Mr.Dava from Nagapattinam announced the winners of the program, The Executive officer of tharangambadi Town Mr. Balasubramanyan gave the shield and certificates to the winners of this competitions, the school teaches and staff were organized this function and the program ended with national anthem.

Students went for an educational tour to Poompuhar along with six teachers and two assistants. Children were very eager to see and know about the history and the monument of Kannaki, kovalan and Madavi. We started from our school at 9.30 am and reached poompuhar at 10.30 am. We stepped there and entered into the Kalaikudam museum. There we saw the models of musical instruments which were used by the people during the period of Kannaki . Then the teachers explained about the history of Kannaki to the students by showing the picture made on the wall. After knowing about the story of Kannaki we all took some photos with the
statues inside the Kalaikudam and children had there snacks also spent few hours in the museum after that we went to the children park near the beach , on seeing the park they were very excited and enjoyed playing in the park.

On 23rd September 2009 the school celebrated the Talent show for our students in Tharangmabadi School. The main guest for this program was Mr. Andy lock CEO Herman Millar (USA) The program started with a prayer at 10 a.m followed by introduction and welcome for the guest.

The Talent show started with a welcome dance by the 5th Std students. The LKG and UKG performed fancy dress from different states and from different culture. 2nd std., students sang a Hindi song also acted as our former president APJ. Abdul Kalam. The 3rd std students gave a conversation on Hindi and English language, one of the students from 3rd std delivered a speech about the benefits he receives through the school. Another students from 3rd Std, performed like the former Tamil nadu chief minister Mr. Annadurai. The 4th std students performed their talents in fashion show which represents the culture and traditions of different states in the country. The 6th and the 7th std., students performed as traditional village people. The program ended with vote that and followed by national anthem.

This platform gave an opportunity for the parents and the community, while their children much capable and confidence. Thanks to all the teachers and staff of Hope foundation.

The first building that welcomes the visitor at the entrance
of the town is an old gateway with wooden doors, built by
the Danish in 1792.

A short walk towards the beach brings you to an old
bungalow, standing precariously, struggling against the
force of gravity. This is the Danish Governor Bungalow

INTRODUCTION

The Government recognized English medium Samsung United Way school of Hope was established in 2005 with a vision to reach out to children affected by tsunami in Tharangambadi and surrounding areas, in order to provide quality education to children of fishermen. The school was moved to the present campus in 2006. It is situated in Tharangambadi, which is half a kilometre from Manickapangu and 600m away from the seashore. A spacious school building is designed with facilities such as lab, library and playground. The package is completed with dedicated and qualified teachers providing an atmosphere for superior learning.
